Education Program

Haiti Thrive’s Education Program

Haiti’s education system is marked by structural challenges that limit equal access to quality learning, Approximately 50% of Haitian children complete primary school, and those who do often face educational resources designed with little consideration for the Haitian context. Standardized exams, including the 6th-grade assessment, reflect an education framework influenced by outdated colonial perspectives, rather than one that fully recognizes and incorporates Haiti’s rich cultural heritage.

Education is where the roots begin. Through Self-Organized Learning Environments (SOLE), Haitian students are empowered to take ownership of their education while exploring their history, culture, and innovation. Teachers are supported with fair wages, affordable housing, and leadership opportunities, ensuring they can focus on nurturing the next generation of leaders.

STEM subjects are integrated through a Haitian lens that celebrates and builds on local knowledge and values. This culturally responsive approach promotes innovative thinking and a sense of community pride, helping students see the relevance of their studies to their lives and futures in Haiti. By combining technology, science, and cultural understanding, we aim to inspire the next generation of Haitian leaders, equipping them with the knowledge and confidence to drive positive change in their communities.
